As in the 1965 model year, Ford's advertising agency
was J. Walter Thompson. Ford asked the people in the marketing department to develop ways
to sell more six-cylinder Mustangs and the result was some of the most successful
advertising that the Mustang had. These ads promoted the economical six-cylinder
to predominantly women, although statistics had shown that men and women enjoyed the
Mustang equally.
