The seven-main bearing 120 hp, 200 c.i.d. single carburetor six-cylinder engine replaced the 170 c.i.d. as the base engine for Mustangs in the 1964 mid-summer model changeover, when the true 1965 model year began. It remained as the base engine all the way through 1973 before the birth of the Mustang II, which was the first Mustang to have a 4-cylinder engine under the hood. |
